Cheddar
Cheese Bread
Servings: makes 4 breads
2 whole eggs
1 pound sugar
4 cups buttermilk
2 tablespoons butter, melted
2 pounds flour
3 teaspons baking powder
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 pound cheddar cheese, shredded fine
Except for
the cheddar cheese, place all the ingredients in a mixing bowl. Knead mixture
with the knead arm in the mixer until smooth. Slowly add the grated cheddar cheese,
and mix until blended.
Grease and
flour four 9-inch pie tins. Divide the batter between the pans. Bake at 350 until
done (approximately for 40 minutes). Check center of bread for doneness. Combine
1 egg, 1/4 cup milk, and 1 teaspoon sugar for the egg wash. Egg wash the bread
shortly before the bread is done and return to the oven briefly to set the glace.
